Making a difference award

April 28th 2024

Congratulations all round

What a month.  Firstly, Jonathan was interviewed for a Radiology Consultant post in Nottingham on the 11th of April and got the job.  This was perhaps unsurprising as the Trust were so keen to appoint him that they made sure that he was the only interviewee.  They are very fortunate to have him.  He starts in October.

Second, Tom passed his medical school finals so there is another Dr Jackson in the family.  Academically, he has gone one better than his parents and Jonathan by achieving a Distinction and, by coming in the top four of his year entry, has been invited back for two more vivas, one for top graduate in his Trust and one for top graduate in the UK.  Before those, however, he has a four-week elective next month in Banff, Canada, with Jane Fowke, an old medical school friend of mine, and her husband Ian.

Not to be outdone, Mary received a well-deserved prize at Charing Cross Hospital on the 24th of April, a “Thank You for Making a Difference Award” which, amongst other things, describes her as a “legendary educator within the Imperial Radiology department”.

What a clever bunch.  Having achieved nothing myself this month, I can only bask in their reflected glory.
